Robert L. Jenick
Allegany, NY Robert L. Jenick, 81, of the Four Mile Rd. passed away suddenly on Thursday (February 16, 2017) in his home.
Born May 14, 1935 in Olean, he was the son of William and Florence Cotton Jenick. On December 18, 1965 he married Barbara Shaw who predeceased him September 14, 1994.
Bob resided in Allegany since 1966 and was a 41-year employee of Dresser Rand Co., retiring in 1998. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #4601 and formerly served as a Union Steward.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing with his nephews and hunting dogs. He won awards in the sport of skeet shooting and turkey calling. He was an accomplished gardener and took pride in cultivating beautiful gladiolas and begonias. Favorite past-times included driving through the Kinzua Dam area and Allegany State Park, enjoying nature's marvels including the spotting of eagle's nests.
It was well known that Bob was a passionate fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and the Yankees. Additionally, he enjoyed following the success of the UConn Huskies Women's Basketball program.
Surviving are a son Tim (Sharon) Fisk of College Park, MD; a daughter Sue (Gary) Cornell of Jamestown; 3 grandchildren: Ron, Kori and Phillip; 8 nieces and nephews: Loretta, Steve, Jay and Eric Johnson; and Stan, George, Perry, Patti and Jeff Harris.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by 3 sisters: Alice Johnson, Bettie Harris-Silvis, Dawn Marie Jenick and a brother, Richard Alger.
No services are being scheduled at this time. An announcement will be made as to when the June memorial service will be held. Burial will be in East Sharon Cemetery, Shinglehouse, PA.
