Obituary of Gerald "Jerry" Ford

Allegany- Gerald “Jerry” Ford, of 3974 Route 417 Lot 123, Allegany, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday (November 3, 2016). Born July 1, 1921 in Olean, he was the son of Lionel and Myrtle Seefried Ford. On September 8, 1946, he married Arlene R. Phillips, who predeceased him on December 5, 2010. Mr. Ford served in the United States Navy and later worked at the New York Telephone Company in Olean. Surviving are one daughter Jan Howard, of Allegany; a son-in-law Kevin Curran of Portville; one sister Marion Bowen of Boise ID; two granddaughters Kaitlin (John) Speta of Richmond, VA and Kristin (Lucas) Flachs, of Harpersfield, NY; three great-grandchildren Lydia and Wyatt Flachs, and Jack Speta; and one niece Patty Thierman of Allegany. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by one daughter Judy Curran; a son-in-law Fred Howard; one sister Julia Swarts; two brothers Donald and Roger Ford; and his infant siblings Loretta and James. At Mr. Ford’s request, there will be no services at this time. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. Memorials if desired may be made to the Allegany Fire Department 188 W. Main Street, Allegany or to the Allegany Rescue and EMS PO Box 217, Allegany NY 14706 Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig, and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean.
