Obituary of John T. "Tom" Bailey, Sr.

John T. "Tom" Bailey, Sr. Bolivar, NY John T. "Tom" Bailey, Sr., 67, of 111 N. Main St. passed away Thursday (October 20, 2016) at the Bath, NY Veterans Administration Hospital. Born February 11, 1949 in Warren, PA he was the son of Virgil C. and Shirley Donner Bailey, Sr. He was married to Jane Willard who predeceased him. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the US Marines. He was a life member of the Olean VFW Post 1619 and was also a member of the Bolivar American Legion where he enjoyed the company of his many friends. He enjoyed riding motorcycles over the years. He was well liked by all and will be remembered for his sense of humor and his devotion to his grandchildren. Surviving are 3 children Lisa (David) Phearsdorf of Bolivar, John T. Bailey, Jr. of Florida and Lyle (Donielle) Champlin of Richburg; 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters Ida Bailey of Ohio and Verna Gibson of Texas; 2 brothers Donny Bailey of Washington and Bill (Wendy) Cuccinelli of Arlington, WA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a brother Virgil Bailey and a sister Frances Jeannie Randall. Friends will be received on Saturday (October 22, 2016) from 11am until 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Services will begin at 1pm. Burial will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery with full military services accorded by the Allegany American Legion ritual team. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
