Obituary of Sally J. Leone

Sally J. Leone Allegany, NY Sally J. Leone of 12 Sunburst Lane passed away Thursday (August 11, 2016) at her home after a recent illness. Born May 6, 1934 in Boston, MA she was the daughter of Edgar and Grace Klein Rockwood. On February 7, 1959 in Buffalo she married Richard A. Leone, MD who survives. Mrs. Leone was a 1956 graduate of Buffalo State Teachers College where she received a BS degree. She taught school for a few years for the Kenmore School District. After her marriage she and her husband moved to the Washington, DC area where she was a substitute teacher for Prince Georges County in Maryland. While her husband was serving with the 7th Army in Germany near Munich, she substitute taught there from 1960 to 1963. They moved back to Buffalo where she taught again in Kenmore from 1963 to 1966. She had resided in the Olean area since 1966 and was a substitute teacher for Hinsdale Central School for several years prior to her retirement. She was a Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League and was a member of the Olean Bridge Club. She also was a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany and enjoyed being active at the YMCA. Surviving besides her husband is a daughter Sherianne (Morris Suttles) Leone of W. Clarksville. She was predeceased by a sister Margaret Rockwood in 2002. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Monday (August 15, 2016) at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church or to the SPCA, PO Box 375, Olean, NY 14760.
