I offer my condolences to Dr. Tedesco's family. I was an English major @ Bonaventure from 1969-73 (Dr. T's early years there), and I remember him fondly. He was my professor for the "Oral &Written Communication" course. I recall his warm, genuine personality. He was pleased to learn I had also attended Regis H.S. in NYC. Dr. T also had a wry sense of humor. For example . . . After I missed (cut) a week of classes, I bumped (almost literally) into him as I came out of the library. Dr. T smiled, shook my hand, and said, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume. Or is it, Mr. Tarpey?" I got the message. I didn't miss any more of his classes. A great teacher and a warm person.

My deepest condolences to Dr. Tedesco's family, his friends, and the Bonaventure community at large. His passing is a great loss to all of us, and I am saddened beyond words. Which is ironic, because it was Dr. T who taught me how to write, and if it were not for him, my life would not have been what it has been. He was my professor, my mentor and, most importantly, my friend. Rest in peace, Joe. You have added your light to the sum of light.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of one of my favorite professors at St. Bonaventure.
He taught me how to write and I also took his G.B. Shaw course and love his enthusiasm for all Shaw brought to us !
Ironically, I just mentioned his name about 3 weeks ago to a Danny Tedesco, who was showing the documentary The Wrecking Crew, the famous recording studio band which included his father, Tommy, and Glen Campbell. They produced much of the famous music of the 60's and 70's. Danny Tedesco directed and produced this documentary and showed it at the Lakeside Little Theatre, here in Ajijic Mexico , where I now live.
I am originally from Buffalo and Danny said his family originated from Niagara Falls. I said that Dr. Tedesco had a New York City accent, but they must be related somehow.
May he rest in peace and thank God for all the joy Dr. Tedesco brought to our lives through learning!

Fran & Joe,
Sincere condolences on the loss of your father. He was a wonderful person and great neighbor. He was so thoughtful of others always. Every spring he would call us to ask permission to drive the lawn mover across our yard to get to his field and mow and every year I told him he didn't need to ask, as he was always welcome. Although we didn't see each as often as we should have, when we did, I could tell how proud he was of you two by the stories he would tell. Guard your memories of your dad closely and feel comfort in his love.

Ed. and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Tedesco family. As students and colleagues of Joe, we have nothing but loving and warm memories of our times with him--on stage, in the classroom and in Plassmann hall. We remember fondly the dinners we shared at Steve Gray-Lewis's home when we were students; such lovely times both then and in retrospect.
All our sympathies in this difficult time,
Ed.and Leigh Simone

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Joe and prayers go out to your family! Dr. Joe was such a whole-hearted, kind, gentle-spoken soul, and, to me, captured so much in him to spread outward to others of the kind of place St. Bonaventure felt like, those Franciscan humanistic tenets of joy, embracement of all, warmth in approachability. I was an undergraduate and graduate student at St. Bonaventure from 97-2003 and not only had the pleasure of taking Dr. Tedesco's classes but of joining him as a colleague in the English department from 03-05, continuing the many fine and comforting conversations sitting in his office home surrounded by shelves and shelves of fun Shaw literature, remembering not only his advice on literature but snippets from his memories of Tom's River, NJ, for example, when I applied to a job there, or stories from NYC area when telling him about family of mine moving to the city--he always knew how to relate and connect. (Dr. Joe sat on the panel during my oral comps, so I largely credit him for helping me get "approved" to receive my MA). Dr. Joe, thank you in bounds for all your knowledge, positive influence, and conversations -- peace always and may the example of your many experiences and heart live on in us to lead similar lives full of grace, success, and appreciation!
Respectfully,
Dave Odum

Dr. T touched more lives than he will probably ever know. My father, older sister, younger sister, and I all attended Bonaventure and were fortunate enough to have interacted with him and most of us had at least one class with him.
He was a giant in the SBU community and leaves behind more than good will, or memories, he leaves a legacy of knowledge and good will.
God's speed sir. Class dismissed.

Dr. T was one of my favorite professors at Bonas. I will always remember his kindness in letting a freshman into his Shaw course -- and how his faith that I could thrive in that class led to one of the best classes I took in four years. Now, as a teacher, I try to pass forward Dr. T's faith in my students.
