Allegany-- Catherine V. Alexsa of 3288 Buffalo Road passed away Wednesday (May 27, 2009) at the Absolut of Salamanca.
Born July 2, 1924 in Irvona, PA she was the daughter of Stanley and Veronica Wheeling Elniskey. On October 7, 1944 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean she married John J. Alexsa who predeceased her September 5, 2006.
Mrs. Alexsa had worked at the former Kresge's Department Store in Olean and had resided on North 8th St. in Olean prior to moving to Allegany over forty years ago.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and her hobbies included caring for animals, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are 1 sister Mary Blanchard of Coudersport, PA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (June 6, 2009) at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
