William Geise
Olean, NY-- William Geise of Olean died Sunday (December 19, 2004) at the home of his son on Irving St. after a long illness.
Born September 15, 1931 in Olean, NY he was the son of Raymond and Anna Cunningham Geise.
Mr. Geise attended St. Mary of the Angels Parochial School and was a 1948 graduate of Olean High School. He served for several years as a sergeant in the Korean War having been stationed in the Azores.
He was employed from 1969 until 1971 for the Pepsi Corporation in Olean and later in the maintenance and security departments for the former St. Francis Hospital and also the maintenance department at Olean General Hospital prior to his retirement in 1992. He worked parttime as a parking lot attendant for the City of Olean until October of this year.
He was a member of St. John's R.C. Church and belonged to the St. Stephen's Club and the Olean American Legion. His interests included playing euchre and bingo and he was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, Notre Dame fan and a Frank Sinatra fan.
Surviving are 4 sons William Geise, Jeffrey (Marta) Geise and Steven (Cassandra) Geise, all of Olean and Thomas (Elizabeth) Geise of Springville; 8 grandchildren Ryan of Bradford, PA, Brittney of Dunkirk, NY, Cole of Olean, Brent of Dunkirk, Gage of Olean, Austin of Olean, Katie of Olean and Ryder of Springville; a sister Jean Kallenbach of Allegany and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (December 23, 2004) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. John's Church. Msgr William Wangler, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. A vigil wake service will be held Wednesday evening at 8:45pm in the funeral home.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY or to the Olean General Hospital.
