Obituary of Barbara Gardner

Barbara J. Gardner Allegany, NY Barbara J. Gardner of 75 N. 1st St. passed away Tuesday (January 20, 2015) at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born October 5, 1935 in Allegany she was the daughter of Harold and Alvina Freels Putt. On September 4, 1954 she married Allen H. Gardner who predeceased her October 21, 1994. Mrs. Gardner was a graduate of Allegany Central School and worked almost fifty years for the former AVX Co., now Olean Advanced Products Co., retiring in 2009. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany and was an avid bingo fan. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and especially liked holiday get-togethers. Surviving are 7 children Deb (Patrick) Boylan of Burnsville, MN, Calvin (Lisa) Gardner and Linda (Glenn) Hopkins, both of Allegany, Cheryl (Tom Cummins) LeBlanc and Connie (Jim Johnston) Wetherby, both of Olean, Rodney (Missy) Gardner of Gulfport, MS and Lisa (Don) Bryan of Burnsville, MN; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 brother Ronald (Dee) Putt of Hinsdale and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Diane Mohr in 2005, a brother Merle Putt; a sister Ruth McCarthy in 2014 and a son-in-law Edward LeBlanc in 2007. Friends will be received on Friday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (January 24, 2015) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Dan Buringrud, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Allegany Fire Department.
