Lawrence F. "Yogi" Meyer Olean, NY Lawrence F. "Yogi" Meyer of 1684 Goodrich Ave. passed away suddenly Monday (January 19, 2015). Born May 31, 1954 in Olean he was the son of Frederick G. and Joan Reel Meyer. On March 20, 1982 in Olean he married Judy A. Wallen who survives. Yogi was a 1972 graduate of Olean High School and soon upon graduation, joined the US Army where he attained the rank of sergeant. After proudly serving his country he began employment with Southern Tier Moving and Storage. Most of his working years were at the City of Olean Water Filtration Department from which he retired after thirty-two years. He was known by all as a humorous, quirky, fun-loving person who was quick with a joke or pun. He also was a passionate supporter of the United States military, was proud of his own service, and enjoyed learning and reading about military history. Surviving besides his loving wife Judy are two sisters Christine (Paul) Carlson of Olean and Teresa (Mark) Kissinger of Pittsburgh, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Elizabeth "Betsy" Whitney. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Thursday (January 22, 2015) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Olean Public Library or to the Salvation Army of Olean. Condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
