Obituary of Leta Heap

Leta V. Heap Olean, NY Leta V. Heap, formerly of 610 E. Delaware Ave. passed away Saturday (January 3, 2015) at the Olean General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born March 3, 1934 in Olean she was the daughter of Frederick E. and Sarah Barber Dailey. On July 31, 1954 in Olean she married Richard W. Heap who predeceased her March 18, 2010. Mrs. Heap was raised in the catholic faith and had worked at various places in her younger years including the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home and the Olean General Hospital. She was primarily a homemaker and loved raising her nine children. She enjoyed reading and sewing and being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are five sons Richard (Bridget) Heap of Ohio, Robert (Beverly) Heap of Caledonia, Frederick Heap of Salamanca, David (Helen) Heap of Port Allegany, PA and Jeffrey Heap of Olean; three daughters Sarah J. Knight of Castile, Brenda (Mark) Dexter of Elma and Lynn (Tony) Taglyavento of Olean; 24 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a sister Sarah Dailey of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Michele Bova in 2007; a brother William Dailey and a sister Doris Heap. Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday (January 7, 2015) from noon to 1:00pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm with burial to follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Gerald Slack will officiate. After services are complete, a luncheon will be held at the United Methodist Church of Shinglehouse, PA.
