Obituary of Ann O'Neil

Ann A. O'Neil "Loving sister and aunt" Olean, NY Ann A. O'Neil, formerly of 201 N. 15th St. passed away Tuesday (October 21, 2014) at The Friendly Home in the town of Brighton. Born August 14, 1915 in Olean she was the daughter of Michael J. and Alice McManus O'Neil. Miss O'Neil attended St. Elizabeth Academy for three years and then graduated from Olean High School. She later attended Westbrook Commercial Academy in Olean. She had been employed for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Olean, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, and was a member of the former Bonatom Club and St. Francis Hospital Guild. She loved to travel and her pride and interest in her Irish heritage resulted in five separate trips to Ireland. She also loved knitting. The family would like to thank the staff of The Friendly Home for all the loving care provided to Ann the past year. Her loving family that survives includes a sister Josephine Curran of Rochester and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters Mary Kreydt, Catherine O'Neil, Helen Donivan, Theresa Kausner and Marguerite "Peg" O'Neil, two nephews Michael Donivan and Michael Curran; a niece Catherine Kreydt Barto and four brothers-in-law Douglas Curran, Robert Kreydt, Edmund Donivan and Kenneth Kausner. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday (October 31, 2014) from 2-5pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday (November 1, 2014) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church.
