Olean- George D. Russell of 604 W. Sullivan Street, died Saturday (May 31, 2014) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born February 24, 1918 in Lexington Kentucky, he was the son of James and Olive Shippen Russell.
He served in the US Navy in 1944 and after his honorable discharge was a self employed carpenter and construction worker.
Surviving are three children Donna M. Newpher of Bradford, Wayne G. (Sandy) Russell of Normandy TN, Bruce A. (Rita) Russell of Bradford; several grandchildren; one sister Ada Falconi; two brothers Joseph Russell, Paul Russell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four siblings.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Olean.
