Obituary of Robert Lagowski

Robert S. Lagowski Robert S. Lagowski of 401 Alder St. Apt. 24 died Wednesday (April 16, 2014) at the Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Born July 27, 1923 in Olean, NY he was the son of John and Mary Novak Lagowski. In 1981 he married Marion Thomas Giardini who predeceased him February 1, 1996. Mr. Lagowski was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army. He was first employed for Olean Wholesale Co. and later for two years for the railroad. He worked for 16 years for the former Daystrom Co. and then for Dresser Clark, retiring in 1985. He was a life member of the Pulaski Club. He belonged to the American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 in Allegany and he attended St. Mary of the Angels Church. He was an active bingo player. Surviving are 1 son Norman J. (Phyllis) Lagowski of Fulton; 2 daughters Linda Giberson of Hinsdale and Debbie (Ron) Hollowell of Hinsdale; 10 grandchildren; one sister Theresa (Bill) Hall of Depew, NY; a dear friend Maureen Richardson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by one brother Joseph Lagowski and two sisters Mary Wilczek, and Ronie Filips Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday From 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (April 19, 2014) at 11am at the funeral home. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor of St. Mary's Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
