Obituary of Marie Ayers

Allegany- Marie J. Ayers of 4565 South Nine Mile Road, passed away Monday (April 14, 2014) at the Bradford Regional Medical Center. Born March 9, 1931 in Olean, she was the daughter of Carson and Zella Stiles Smith. On October 5, 1946 in Allegany, she married Gerald Ayers who survives. Mrs. Ayers worked as a cook at the former Allegany Truck Stop, Monica's, Mary's Diner and Valley View Manor. She enjoyed baking, cooking, Nascar and bird watching. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending many of their school and sporting events. In addition to her husband she is survived by nine children Mary Lou (Mike) Krott of Bemus Point, Jean (Dan) Balus of Allegany, Daniel Ayers of Allegany, Gary (Kimberly) Ayers of Allegany, Delores (Ron) Thompson of Allegany, Laura (Mark) Ullman of Allegany, David (Paula) Ayers of Allegany, Bonnie (Thomas) Gilray of Allegany, Patricia (Ed) Giardini of Allegany; four brothers Dick Smith, Lloyd Smith, Robert Smith and Dennis Smith; two sisters Doris (Dave) Lawrence and Nancy (Gene) Hmel; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Thursday from 4-7pm. There will be no funeral services at this time. Flowers are gratefully declined.
