Russell J. Rossingnol Olean, NY Russell J. Rossingnol of 591 Martha Ave. passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (April 1, 2014) at the Olean General Hospital. Born January 28, 1956 in Fort Kent, ME he was the son of William and Irene Gideon Rossignol. On July 10, 1974 in Olean he married Phyllis E. Bean who survives. Mr. Rossingnol was a lifelong resident of Olean and had served with the US Air Force during Vietnam from 1973 to 1974. He worked at the former AVX Ceramics, now Olean Advanced Products in Olean for over 20 years. He then was employed as manager of R & R Convenience in East Olean and more recently worked as a security guard for the Seneca Allegany Casino for 5 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and working outdoors taking care of his property. He most enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters Renee Rossingnol Weakfall of Olean and Raquel Rossingnol of Portland, TN; 1 son Scott Rossingnol of Carpentersville, IL; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Renette Wagner Bedard (the late Joseph Wagner), Marilyn James of Santa Ana, CA and Ruth (Pete Vaughn) Fitch of Olean; 1 brother Rudy (Arvella) Rossignol of Riverside, CA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; 1 sister Stella Gideon and 2 brothers Reynold Rossignol and Ronald Gideon. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (April 5, 2014) from 3-4pm at which time funeral and committal services will be held. Rev. Tyrone Hall, pastor of Fresh Joy Ministries in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
