Nicholas J. "Buck" Filjones
Olean, NY Nicholas J. "Buck" Filjones, formerly of Spruce St. passed away Saturday (March 15, 2014) at the Bradford Manor, Bradford, PA.
Born April 25, 1917 in Olean he was the son of Domminic and Massamina Felicioni. On June 10, 1942 he married Patricia Reilly who predeceased him March 5, 1995.
Mr. Filjones was a veteran of WWII and had resided in Olean most of his life. He worked as a beautician for many years before retirement and also worked in advertising sales.
He had attended both St. John's Church and St. Bonaventure Church and was an active volunteer for both of the church's annual picnic. He enjoyed playing cards and was an avid hunter.
Surviving are 2 sons Ronald (Arlene) Filjones and John (Denise) Filjones, both of Allegany; 1 daughter Helen Keefe of Warren, PA; 12 grandchildren Pamela and David Filjones, Ryan, Adam and Julie Keefe, Heather (James) Marcellin, Jonathan (Mary) Filjones, Jeremiah (Amy) Filjones, Thomas (Carrie) Filjones, Brian (Jessica) Filjones, Angela (Justin) Todoroff and Steven Filjones; 14 great grandchildren; 1 brother Arthur Filjones of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a son Thomas P. Filjones April 5, 2009 and 5 brothers and sisters Daniel "Stack" Filjones, Louis "Moe" Filjones, Mary Wagner, Lyna Edwards and Rika Ricci.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (March 19, 2014) beginning with a prayer service at 9am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Bonaventure Church Renovation Fund or to St. John's Church. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
