Obituary of Marian Anderson

Marian M. Anderson Portville, NY Marian M. Anderson of 525 Linwood Drive in the town of Portville passed away Friday (February 14, 2014) at her home after a long illness. Born November 17, 1947 in Olean she was the daughter of Stanley I. and Mary Pancio Piechota. On September 30, 1972 in Dilworth, MN she married David E. Anderson who survives. Mrs. Anderson attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Olean and was a 1965 graduate of Olean High School. She then received her LPN degree from the former St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing. She completed her course of study for a RN degree from Morrisville College near Syracuse after which she took her State Board examination in Bismarck, ND. While living in Moorhead, MN she began employment in nearby St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND. She and her husband returned to this area in 1974 where she worked for Olean General Hospital until 1976. She paused her career in nursing to raise her family. She later continued her education at Daemen College in Buffalo where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then worked for the Olean General Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed family vacations and travel. Surviving besides her husband are 3 children Annette Anderson in Cuba, Philip Anderson of Salisbury, MD and Eric Anderson of Cleveland, OH; a grandson Isaac Anderson; 2 brothers Ronald (Michelle) Piechota of Schenectady and Robert (Sue) Piechota of Allegany and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (February 17, 2014) at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Beatty, pastor of the United Pentecostal Church in Olean, will officiate.
