Obituary of Jessica Sherwin

Jessica L. Sweitzer Sherwin Olean, NY Jessica L. Sweitzer Sherwin, 28, of 1506 W. Henley Street passed away Thursday (January 23, 2014) shortly after admission to the Olean General Hospital. Born September 7, 1985 in Olean she was the daughter of Patrick and Barb Irving Sweitzer. On August 25, 2012 she married Christopher J. Sherwin who survives. Jessica was a 2003 graduate of Olean High School and received an Associates degree from Jamestown Community College. She also attended the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford campus where she took course work in the criminal justice program. From 2003 until 2009 she had been employed as the child care site director for the Olean YMCA. She had attended the Rock of Revelation Church in Olean. Her two daughters were the center of her life and she will be remembered as one who showed tremendous care and compassion to all her family and many friends. Surviving besides her husband are her parents of Olean; two daughters Norah Sweitzer and Lillian Sweitzer, both at home; two sisters Sarah (Chad Davidson) Sweitzer of Cleveland, OH and Christine Sweitzer of Olean; her maternal grandmother Ollivene Irving of Olean; her paternal grandmother Gail Sweitzer of Olean and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather Robert Sweitzer and her maternal grandfather Charles "Gene" Irving. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (January 28, 2014) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mental Health Association in Cattaraugus County, 123 N.
