Louis C. "Sonny" Williams, Jr. Allegany, NY Louis C. "Sonny" Williams, Jr. of 2299 Prozeller Cross Rd. passed away Tuesday (January 21, 2014) at the Olean General Hospital. Born September 23, 1931 in Olean he was the son of Louis C. and Adele Peterson Williams, Sr. On May 27, 1976 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany he married Kay F. Krott who survives. Mr. Williams started school in Mrs. Orleana Wing's kindergarten at her home on Fourth St. in Allegany and then attended grades 1 & 2 at Allegany Central School. From grades 3-6 he attended the Two Mile country school and later graduated from Olean High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War having proudly served in the US Army Engineers as a crane operator from 1952 to 1954, including a thirteen month tour in Korea. He was a member of the VFW Post 2092 in Eldred, PA and the Salamanca American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535. He had also been a member of the Teamster's Union. He had been employed by both the Village and Town of Allegany Highway Departments and later for the Cattaraugus County Highway Department from 1954 to 1955. He then worked as a truck driver and equipment operator for Work and Silvis Construction Co. of Allegany, Florin Bump of Allegany, R.F. Stuckey Construction Co. of Allegany, G.P. Williams Trucking of Rushford and the John T. Williams Trucking Co., Inc. of Allegany. He also worked in the oil fields for Guy Hitchcock Drilling, F.H. Stephan Trust of Allegany, Karl Oil Co. of Allegany and Bradford, PA and had been a partner in the Williams Brothers Oil Co. for over forty years. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter Eva Brown of Allegany; a brother John T. (Mary Linda) Williams of Allegany; a niece Jennifer (Dan) Johnson and their two children Lee and Maryann, all of Drewryville, VA. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (January 25, 2014) from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm in the funeral home with Pastor Bryan Garrett of Olean Community Church to officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by members of the Allegany American Legion ritual team. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Historical Association, Joyful Rescues, Olean Community Church, S. 26th St. Olean or to a charity of the donor's choice.
