Obituary of Mary Yehl

Mary E. "Betsy" Yehl Rochester, NY Mary E. "Betsy" Yehl, an Allegany native, passed away Monday (September 2, 2013) in the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness. Born October 18, 1949 in Olean she was the daughter of Ernest M. and Virginia M. Lippert Yehl. Betsy was a graduate of Allegany Central School and then attended the Rochester Business Institute where she graduated in 1967. She had been employed for Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester for twenty nine years. She then worked for ten years for the Rochester City School District prior to her retirement. Betsy was an independent woman who loved to read and who enjoyed animals and pet sitting for her friends. She also enjoyed trips to the casino. Surviving are two brothers Stephen Yehl and Richard Yehl, both of Allegany; two sisters Jeanne (John) Tinelli of Rochester and Karen Yehl Manzo of Olean; an aunt Jane McCaffrey of Allegany; nieces Sara (Bill) Devlieger, Katie (Brad) Camp and Gretchen Yehl; several cousins and several close friends including Karlene and Carol. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister-in-law Susan Yehl. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday (September 7, 2013) beginning with a prayer service at 10:30am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Public Library or to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
