Raymond L. Pritz, formerly of Salamanca, and a resident of 4115 S. Nine Mile Rd. in Allegany died Thursday (January 23, 2003) in his home. Born February 17, 1927 in Salamanca he was the son of Leland and Bessie Boutelle Pritz. On August 20, 1955 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean he married the former Vivian !LaCavera who survives.
Mr. Pritz was a veteran of WWII, having served with the Quarter Master Corps in the US Army in Germany. He resided in Salamanca since 1955, moving to Allegany in 1998.He was a cabinet maker for ten years for Fancher Furniture Co., then he worked as the Senior Artist for Luminite Co. in Salamanca for 32 years. He was then employed for over 3 years for Salamanca Print Cutters, retiring on February 17, 1991.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany and was a former member of the Holy Cross Church in Salamanca. He was a member of the See-Saws Square Dance Club in Salamanca, the Penn-NY Promanaders, and AARP. He was a president of the Holy Name Society, a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1002, a former member of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535, and also was awarded a trophy for bowler of the year.
Surviving besides his wife are 4 daughters Laurie (Wesley) Caswell of Allegany, Lynn (Robert) !McAllister of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Colleen Pritz of Sherwood, Arkansas and Gigi (Michael) !DuPont of Salamanca; 8 grandchildren Heather (Trey) Marra of Alpharetta, Ga, Niki Meissner of Buffalo, Shawn and Jacob !McAllister of Jacksonville, Ark. and Aaron, Andy and Abbey !DuPont of Salamanca. He has been voted the "All Time Favorite Father and !PaPa", since 1957, unanimously presented by all his children and grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Saturday (January 25, 2003) at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Ambulance Fund, Homecare and Hospice in Olean, Interfaith Caregivers or to the Cornerstone Church on Brookview Ave. in Olean.
