John D. Hebrock Allegany, NY John D. Hebrock, of Allegany, passed away Tuesday (January 15, 2013) in St. Ann's Community Home, Rochester, after a sudden illness. Born August 30, 1928 in West Virginia he was the son of John B. and Frances Opal Fluharty Hebrock. The family moved to Olean in the 1930s, and he graduated from Olean High School. He met his wife Mary Elizabeth Kuhn of Shinglehouse, PA while roller skating, and were married August 11, 1956. They moved to Allegany in 1963. Mr. Hebrock spent his entire career at the Olean Times Herald, starting out as a custodian before progressing to journeyman printer. He had a passion for photography, both casually and professionally, and was well recognized for his photographic coverage of newspaper events in the Southern Tier. He was a member of and served as a representative for the International Typographical Union. He will also be remembered as an avid roller skater, a great father and grandfather, and a person who was always ready to lend a friendly, helping hand to others. Surviving besides his wife are two sons Steve Hebrock of Akron, OH and Tom (Heather Sprague) Hebrock of Scottsville and two grandchildren Madeline Jewell and Benjamin G. Hebrock. He was predeceased by sisters Virginia and Jane. Friends are invited to a memorial visitation at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (January 19, 2013) from 11:00am until time of services at 1:00pm. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bradford Ecumenical Home, 100 Francis St. Bradford, PA 16701. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
