Obituary of Jeffrey Karl

Jeffrey L. Karl Allegany, NY Jeffrey L. Karl of 2687 Five Mile Road passed away Tuesday (September 25, 2012) in Allegany. Born October 7, 1954 in Olean he was the son of Lloyd and Mary Good Karl. On July 2, 1988 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany he married Kay L. French who survives. Jeff was a 1972 graduate of Allegany Central School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and was principally stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. His career was with Ricoh Corporation where he worked as a technical support manager for the Northeast territory. Recently he had been working as a volunteer for the Olean General Hospital. He enjoyed taking care of his home, providing love and care for his wife and family and he especially loved taking care of his grandchildren. He liked to read, attend Christian concerts, and together with his wife he experienced hiking both the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Coast trail. He was a member of Believer's Chapel in Allegany where he served as an usher and he was active with the Home Bible Study Group. He also was a member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 of Allegany. Surviving besides his wife are one son Lawrence (Stacey) Benson of Lockport; one daughter Kelly (Dominic Ozzella) Benson of Allegany; two grandchildren Zachery Benson and Rylee Ozzella; three sisters Suzanne (Robert) Piechota of Allegany, Peggy Errera of Bradford, PA and Sally (Robert) King of Allegany; nieces and nephew Melissa (Robert) Burkett, Joseph (Angela) Errera, Katie French, Hanna French and Hillary French; a great nephew Tyler Burkett; a great niece Haley Burkett; a brother-in-law Kevin (Judy) French and a sister-in-law Karen Bidwell. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday (September 29, 2012) at 11:00am at Believer's Chapel, 2522 W. Five Mile Rd., Allegany. Pastor Sean Obergfell will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Believer's Chapel.
