Walter A. Fellows
Allegany- Walter Arthur Fellows, of 3637 Five Mile Road Allegany, passed away to be with his Lord, surrounded by his friends and family Saturday (July 14, 2012) at his home.
Born January 9, 1931 in Ellicottville, he was the son of Clarence and Rose Keir Fellows of Humphrey. He married Joyce May Butler of Great Valley in 1952, who survives.
Mr. Fellows attended Ellicottville Central School and served in the United States Army, as Military Police from 1948-1950.
Through the years, he was a construction heavy equipment operator, home builder and over the road truck driver. In later years, he most enjoyed working for Columbus McKinnon as his duties included driving freight from coast to coast on a regular basis. Active in his church and community, Mr. Fellows served as a Deacon at the Five Mile Baptist Church until he passed.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of over sixty years, and their three children Jim (MaryLynn) Fellows of Lacey, WA., Gary (Bonnie) Fellows of Allegany; their adopted daughter Barbara Stephan of Olean; one sister Mary (Gene) Galandio; seven grandchildren Matthew, Lauren, Eric, Alex, Shane, Heather and Dillon; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents a brother Donald Fellow and a sister Erma Ehman.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday (July 17, 2012) at 11am at the Five Mile Baptist Church, Allegany. Rev. Mike Sanders, Pastor will officiate and Rev. Roy Kinney will co-officiate. Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY.
