Obituary of Mabel Phillips

Allegany- Mabel P. Phillips of 3974 Rte 417 lot #82, passed away Thursday (May 17, 2012) at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 12, 1924 in Hilo, HI she was the daughter of Manuel Tavares and Theodora Medeiros Borges Perreira. On August 24, 1944 in Honolulu, HI, she married Perry H. Phillips, who predeceased her June 18, 1982. Mrs. Phillips was employed for the former Hills Department Store in Olean. She was a long time member of the Salamanca Order of the Eastern Star. She loved sewing and had sewn many dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. Mrs. Phillips was an incredible woman who&amp;#39;s life was an inspiration, and was a wonderful friend to all who were blessed enough to know her. Surviving are her five children LeRoy W. Phillips of Allegany, Beverly J. (Gary) Harter of South Dayton, NY, Carolyn M. Phillips of Owensboro, KY., Perry A. Phillips of Allegany and Pamela A. Wynn of Allegany; her legacy includes 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one sister Elvira P. Pauline, three brothers Frank T. Perreira, Ernest T. Perreira, August T. Perreira and a grandson Jonathan M. Colby. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Sunday from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday (May 21, 2012) at 10am at the funeral home. Rev. Millard Cook, assistant pastor of the First Baptist Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be at Green Cemetery in Great Valley.
