Ruth W. Hogan
Port St. Lucie, FL Ruth W. Hogan, a former longtime resident of Allegany, passed away peacefully Saturday (March 10, 2012) in The Palms Assisted Living Facility in Port St. Lucie with two of her loving nieces by her side.
Born January 14, 1925 in Westfield, NY she was the daughter of Edward and Harriet Clark Walker. On May 23, 1953 at St. Joseph's Church in Fredonia, NY she married Ronald V. Hogan who predeceased her January 25, 2005.
Mrs. Hogan was a graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School and was first employed at the Ajax Flexible Coupling Co. in Westfield. After moving to Allegany, NY in the 1950's she worked as an executive secretary to the president of Dresser Clark Co. in Olean until her retirement in 1987. It was in 1987 that she and her husband moved to Port St. Lucie where she enjoyed the outside lifestyle that Florida offers. In addition to excelling at her duties as a secretary, she was a dedicated caregiver to her family, including her husband and most recently her sister Alice.
She was a member of St. Lucie Catholic Church and a former member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and always recalled their visit to Shannon, Ireland as being her favorite trip.
Surviving are one sister Emma W. (Hayden) Hanks of Amesbury, MA one niece Sue H. (Aaron) Singleton of Amesbury, MA; two nephews Stephen L. Hanks of Portland, NY and Dennis W. (Jean) Hanks of Westfield, NY, and many other loving nieces and nephews on her husband's side whom she held very close to her heart.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother Alfred E. Walker in 1968; a sister Alice W. Lant who died only three days before Ruth, and a half sister Dorothy W. Cochran.
Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany at 11:00am Saturday (March 17, 2012) where the family will be present to receive friends from 10:30 until the time of the Mass. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to any local Hospice of the donor's choice.
