James R. Bockmier Allegany, NY James R. Bockmier of 2476 West Five Mile Rd. died Thursday (February 23, 2012) shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital from a recent illness. Born June 6, 1943 in Buffalo, NY he was the son of Paul and Mary Sutter Bockmier. On October 13, 1973 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ellicottville he married Sheila A. Chase who survives. Mr. Bockmier was a resident of Allegany most of his life having graduated from Allegany Central School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. He loved working and being outdoors and spent his entire career operating a dairy farm and, along with his wife, operating Bockmier's Farm Market in Allegany. Everyone enjoyed his "sweet corn", considered to be the best in the county. He also loved the animals on his farm, particularly the Holstein dairy cows. Surviving besides his wife are three children Jodi (Chris) Toland of Hammond, NY, Joseph "Jay" (Alicia) Bockmier of Allegany and Jeffery (Erin) Bockmier of Olean; four grandchildren Shanna Toland, Joshua Toland, Cayden Toland and Evelyn Bockmier; one sister Margaret (Dan) Bouck of Marcellus and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (February 28, 2012) at 10:00am in the funeral home. Rev. James Vacco, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Fire Department.
