Allegany-- Donald C. Weaver of 2323 Five Mile Road, Allegany, passed away Thursday (December 29, 2011) at the Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness. Born October 12, 1936 in Olean, he was the son of Claude R. and Dorothy Pierce Weaver. On December 27, 1986 he married Barbara J. Barto, who survives. Mr. Weaver attended Olean High School and graduated from Machias High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the United States Army paratroopers from 1954-1958. He returned to Olean in 1959 and was employed for the former Daystrom's Co. and later for Mazza Bros. Roofing Company. He operated American West State Service in Olean for 13 years and later was the owner of Weaver's Auto Service on West State Street for 13 years until 1991. Mr. Weaver was employed at HoliMont Ski Resort in Ellicottville from 1991 to 1998. He later retired from bus driving for the Allegany- Limestone Central School District. He was a 60 plus year member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean. He was also a member of the American Legion of Allegany, the Olean Eagles Aerie #616 and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Olean Lodge 252 F & AM. Mr. Weaver was an Eagle Boy Scout and served as former Scoutmaster for the Troop sponsored by Trinity United Methodist Church. He was also a former member of the Olean Men's Bowling Association, having bowled for over 50 years until 2010. For the past 20 years he has worked as an umpire for the High School Softball Officials in Cattaraugus County. Surviving besides his wife, are three sons Bradley T. (Terri) Weaver of Jamestown, NY, Timothy J. (Susan) Weaver of Stateville, NC, and Thomas J. (Gretchen) Weaver of Macedonia, OH; six grandchildren Brandon, Zachary, David, Levi, Grace and Eric; one sister Donna Steiner of Delevan; one brother John R. (Marga) Weaver of Machias; step children Lee Parke, Cheryl Parke, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Jeanette Haynes, a twin sister Dorothy Hayes and a brother in law Dave Steiner. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road today (Friday) from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (December 31, 2011) at 11am at the funeral home. Rev. Brad Chesebro, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Kidney Fund.
