Obituary of Rose George

Allegany-- Rose Ann George of 3731 Birch Run Road Allegany, passed away Thursday (December 29, 2011) at the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born June 25, 1933 in Otto NY. On June 13, 1953 in Franklinville, she married Gordon George who survives. Mrs. George was employed for the former Woolworth's in Olean, Ried's Food Barn as the deli manager and later she owned R & G Ceramic Shop in Allegany. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Olean chapter of REAP and was very involved with the farmers market. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, camping, boating, snowmobiling, baking, art and crafts. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband are three children Kathleen (Kim) Fisk of Allegany, Thomas (Carol) George of Allegany, Lynn (Dennis) Stillman of Allegany; three grandchildren Phillip, Christopher and Shawna; a loving aunt Marion Shaffer of Allegnay; an uncle Richard Black; and several brothers and sisters in law. She was predeceased by an aunt Edith Black and an uncle Douglas Shaffer. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral home on Friday from 5-8pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 11-12pm at the Christ United Methodist Church in Olean at which time services will begin. Burial will take place at a later date.
