Marjorie E. Ellman
Olean, NY Marjorie E. Ellman of 1210 Maple Street died Monday (December 26, 2011) in the Olean General Hospital.
Born July 14, 1921 in Conneaut, Ohio she was the daughter of Frederick and Dora Harrington McGavisk. In 1947 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean she married Michael E. Ellman who predeceased her December 5, 2007.
Mrs. Ellman was a graduate of Olean High School and first worked for the former Thatcher Glass Plant in Olean. She then worked for the former Icke's Cookies Co. and for many years for the former Weston's Shoppers City until its closing. In retirement she worked into her eighties as a private caregiver.
She was a member of St. John's Church in Olean and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Surviving are two sons Anthony (Theresa) Ellman and Michael (Xiao Juan) Ellman, both of Olean; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister Lula Ray of Clearwater, FL and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by six sisters Annabelle Vacco, Nina McGavisk, Irene Kinnaird, Nadene Keller, Josephine Harvey and Katie McGavisk who died in infancy.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (December 29, 2011) beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30am in St. John's Church. Rev. Ed Sheedy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
