Margaret E. First Portville, NY Margaret E. First of 25 N. Main St. died peacefully Sunday (November 13, 2011) in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 25, 1926 in Crown Point, Indiana she was the daughter of Murray L. and Grace Hunter Zieseniss. On October 3, 1953 in Huntington, Indiana she married Donald W. First who predeceased her January 1, 1996. Mrs. First owned and operated the Lantern Motel in Allegany before retiring to Chautauqua Lake in 1982. She was a member of the Hinsdale American Legion Auxiliary, the Portville Senior Citizens and the Portville United Methodist Women's Group. She enjoyed being with family and friends, playing euchre and doing crafts and gardening. Surviving are three daughters Connie (Harry) McCoy of Hinsdale, Diana First of Portville and Debra (Corky) Hatch of Florida; one son David (Sue) First of Rome; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by one brother Philip Zieseniss. There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean and online condolences may be left at oleanfuneralhome.com.
