Kevin Gerard O'Keefe
Allegany, NY Kevin Gerard O'Keefe of 3774 Birch Run Rd. died Wednesday (September 28, 2011) at the Olean General Hospital shortly after admission.
Born August 11, 1954 in Olean, NY he was a son of Harold R. and Patricia Gazdik O'Keefe. On April 26, 1986 at St. John's Church in Olean he married Cheryl L. Lowe who survives.
Mr. O'Keefe attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Olean High School in 1974. He first worked at Dresser Clark Co. for ten years. He then was a supervisor for Ontario Knife Factory in Franklinville. From 1990 until 2006 he was employed as a manager for TODCO Overhead Door Co. in Cattaraugus.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and was a social member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892. He was an excellent golfer and belonged to the Pine Acres Golf Club. He always was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed his times at the family camp, the "Mini Buck Lodge." He also loved spending time with his family and watching Notre Dame and Buffalo Bills football as well as the Bonaventure Bonnies.
Surviving besides his wife are his parents of Olean; two children Brendon R. O'Keefe and Lura M. O'Keefe, both at home; two brothers Kelly E. (Barbara) O'Keefe of Allegany, Kerry C. (Teresa) O'Keefe of Chalfont, PA; five sisters Karen (Pieter) Tesselaar of Silver Creek, Kimberly (Robert) Cerrie of Jamestown, Kathryn (Timothy) Galbato of Lakewood, Killeen (Michael) Higgins of Rochester and Kirsten (Kurt) Benham of Cuba; several nieces and nephews and his beloved Goddaughter Bethany O'Keefe of Allegany.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (October 3, 2011) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian will follow at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
