"loving mother and grandmother"
Olean, NY-- Margaret Ann Zampogna, a resident of The Pines in Olean, formerly of 1312 Washington St. in Olean died peacefully Wednesday (March 12, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital.
Born October 23, 1921 in Arroyo, Pa. she was the daughter of Michael and Veronica Vosick Perilla. On August 22, 1942 in Kane, Pa. she married Anthony J. Zampogna, Sr. who predeceased her March 1, 2000.
Mrs. Zampogna was a former resident of Curwensville, Pa. and Kane, Pa. and she attended St. Bonaventure University. She later resided in Cleveland, Ohio prior to moving to Olean in 1958. She worked as a waitress at the Castle Restaurant and Lucia’s Restaurant, and later worked as a hostess at the family-owned Ho-Sta-Geh Restaurant prior to her retirement. She was a former volunteer at the Olean Public Library and for the Literacy Volunteers.
Surviving are 2 daughters Judy (Richard) Cohen of Salt Lake City, UT and Carol (Kenneth) Anderson of Olean; 2 sons Michael (Betsy) Zampogna and Tony (Melody) Zampogna, both of Olean; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 foster son Robert (Sue) Mikolajczyk of Hinsdale; 2 brothers Michael Perilla of Erie, Pa and George (Jean) Perilla of Wilmington, NC and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a granddaughter Anessa Zampogna and 3 brothers John Perilla, Joseph Perilla and William Perilla.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean and on Saturday (March 15, 2003) from 10 until 11:00am. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home. Fr. Francis Storms, OFM and Brother Brian Hart, OFM will co-officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
