Obituary of Rolland Bates

Cuba-- Rolland J. Bates, formerly of E. Henley Street, Olean, passed away Sunday (April 24, 2011) at the Cuba Skilled Nursing facility, where he had be residing for the past eight years.
Born February 1, 1922 in Angelica, NY, he was the son of Albert R. and Mary I. Withey Bates. On September 30, 1944 in Cuba, he married Donna Jean Magee, who predeceased him on July 28, 1980.
Mr. Bates was a graduate of Angelica High School. He was first employed for the railroad company and later went to work for Dresser Rand. He enjoyed reading and fishing at Cuba Lake.
Surviving is a son Alan Bates of Olean; 1 sister Maxine Osgood of Georgia; 2 grandsons Chris and Dana; several nephews; and good friends Ralph and Trudy Butler or Olean.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter Linda Jean.
There will be no services. Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery in the town of New Hudson, NY.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean.
