John M. "Mac" Sue "Lifelong Musician" Allegany, NY John M. "Mac" Sue of 3999 Birch Run Rd. died peacefully Wednesday (March 16, 2011) in the Olean General Hospital. Born October 11, 1943 in Olean, NY he was the son of John B. and Ann McCord Sue. On July 24, 1965 in Bradford, PA he married Barbara Bowen who survives. Mr. Sue was a 1961 graduate of Allegany High School and furthered his education at Roberts Wesleyan College in N. Chili and later SUNY Fredonia. He was a well known musician who for years played the organ in area churches, especially St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and also St. Mary of the Angels Church. He was currently a member of and the organist for the First Presbyterian Church in Bradford, PA where his wife serves as the choir director. He also played for many years with the Mac Sue Trio for area restaurants including the Ho-Sta-Geh Restaurant and the former Castle Restaurant, both in Olean and Moonwinks Restaurant in Cuba. From 1979 to 1983 he and his wife resided in Oceanside, CA where he played music at the La Costa Resort. For several years he entertained aboard the Princes Cruise Lines' "Love Boat" which enabled him to enjoy visiting many places in the world and later he played aboard the Queen Mary. In 1997 he was privileged to lead the choral group which he taught from St. Bonaventure University to the Vatican in Rome where he and the group performed for the Pope. He was member of the American Guild of Organists and along with the late Barry Lynch co-founded the Olean Community Chorus. During his music career he composed several anthems for area choirs. He enjoyed his family and his home and was content caring for his yard, especially aboard his tractor "Ford". Surviving besides his wife are four children Gretchen (Richard) Tucker of Cuba, Rachel (James) Lovell of Olean, John B. (Lori) Sue of E. Roxbury, VT and Stephen Sue of Allegany; six grandchildren Kara Greeley, Sean Tucker, Elizabeth Lovell, Devlin Morey, John "Rusty" Tucker and Katherine Lovell; three great grandchildren Kamerrin, Kaleigh and Owen; one sister Julie Wolf of Olean; one brother David (Vicki) Sue of Shingletown, CA; several nieces and nephews; three aunts Annabelle Sue, Carolyn (Douglas) Warner and Marcia Karl, all of Allegany; a sister-in-law Elizabeth (David) Heintz of Conneaut Lake, PA and several nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held Friday (March 18, 2011) at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church of Bradford, Pa located at 54 E. Corydon St. Rev. Lee Beckes, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Bradford, the Intensive Care Unit of Olean General Hospital or to Roswell Park Cancer Institute PO Box 631 Buffalo, NY 14240-0631. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
