Obituary of Lucy Gangemi

Lucy Gangemi, of Olean, died Saturday (February 5, 2011) at the Bradford Ecumenical Home where she had been a resident since 2004. Born March 21, 1920 in Lackawanna, NY she was the daughter of Guy and Theresa Rigo Anzivine. On April 17, 1948 in Olean she married Frank W. Gangemi who predeceased her August 6, 1997. Mrs. Gangemi was a lifelong resident of Olean and had worked for 22 years for the former Daystrom Furniture Co. in Olean. She later worked in the housekeeping department at St. Bonaventure University where she retired after 22 years of employment. She was a member of St. John's Church in Olean and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also belonged to the St. Stephen's Club Auxiliary and was a member of the Olean Senior League and a life time member of St. Ann's Lodge. She enjoyed quilting. Surviving are a son John (Diane) Gangemi of Allegany; two grandchildren Christopher (Kelee) Gangemi of Concord, NC and Kelley (Christopher) Pearl of Avon; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by four sisters Mary Papasergi, Frances Piechota, Elizabeth Kasperski and Cecelia Austin and two brothers Lawrence Anzivine and Alfred Anzivine. At Mrs. Gangemi's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service scheduled at this time. A memorial mass will be held at St. John's Church at a later date. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the ReHabilitation Center 1439 Buffalo St. Olean, NY 14760 or to the Allegany Fire Department PO Box 95 Allegany, NY 14706.
