Mary Teresa Butinski Olean, NY Mary T. Butinski of 1512 Walnut St. died peacefully Saturday (November 13, 2010) in her home. Born November 21, 1914 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Swinko Mojak. On November 5, 1938 at the Transfiguration Church in Olean she married Walter J. Butinski who predeceased her July 20, 1979. Mrs. Butinski resided in Olean all of her life and had first worked in the silk mill in Olean. Later, she and her husband were co-owners of the Melrose Restaurant on West State St. in Olean. She then worked as a secretary to the president of VanderHorst Corp. and then as a secretary at Dresser Clark Co., retiring in 1972. She attended catholic churches in the Olean area. Surviving are 1 sister Josephine (James) Lee of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her sister she was predeceased by 2 sisters Anna Washington and Helen Tompkins; 3 brothers John Benca, Edward Benca and Michael Benca and 1 niece Theresa Earle. A private funeral service was held today (Monday November 15, 2010) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, officiated. Burial was in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
