David A. Morgan
Allegany, NY David A. Morgan of 3446 Cherry Valley Rd. died Friday (November 12, 2010) from injuries sustained in a fire in his home.
Born December 2, 1933 in Olean, NY he was the son of Ernest Nelson and Julie Margaret Smith Morgan. On February 23, 2000 in Daytona Beach, FL he married Jacqueline Conroy who survives.
Mr. Morgan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served from 1952 to 1956 and later for the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1960. He was primarily employed as a patrol officer for the Olean Police Department from 1961 to 1981. Years ago he also held jobs as a ditch digger for an area plumbing contractor and also as a truck driver for the Rocket Fuel Co.
He was a former member of the Five Mile Baptist Church and currently was attending Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed traveling with his wife to antique shows. He also enjoyed his daily visits with his friends in the area coffee shops.
Surviving besides his wife are 5 children Jacquelyn (Rick) Slack of Aiken, S. Carolina, Timothy (Kelly) Morgan of Florida, Bonita (Timothy) Buchanan of Olean, Cynthia Kay of Olean and Debra Morgan of Olean; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters Lewis (Doris) Morgan of North Carolina, Charles Morgan of Allegany, Marilyn Sebring of South Carolina, Robert Morgan of Allegany, Anne Evens of Olean, Daniel Morgan of Kentucky and Dennis (Eileen) Morgan of Allegany; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law Barbara Conroy of Sun City Center, FL; a sister-in-law Kimberly Marie Conroy of Cuba and a brother-in-law John Conroy of Tampa, FL.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday (November 16, 2010) from noon until time of services at 2:00pm. Rev. Brad Chesebro, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Five Mile Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
