George F. Pavel
Olean, NY George F. Pavel of 626 Homer St. died Tuesday (November 9, 2010) in Olean.
Born September 19, 1929, in Olean, NY he was the son of John and Agnes Svac Pavel. On June 24, 1961, in Olean he married Josephine Startire who survives.
Mr. Pavel was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. He had been employed as a pipe fitter at Dresser Clark Co. prior to his retirement.
He attended St. Mary of the Angels Church and was a former member of the United Steelworker's Union Local #4601. He was an expert trapper all of his life, and a great enjoyment was spending time in the woods.
Surviving besides his wife are 4 sisters-in-law; Delores Pavel of Olean, Grace (Jack) Parker of Spencerport, Janice Young of Florida, and Rose Rouse of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter and her husband, Jo Ellen and Peter Sandek and their son Kyle on November 26, 2000, and 2 brothers John Pavel and Edward Pavel.
There will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held Saturday (November 13, 2010) at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
