Allegany, NY Marjorie K. Wintermantel of 92 Maple Avenue died Saturday (July 31, 2010) shortly after admission to Olean General Hospital.
Born January 30, 1924 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Daniel Vincent and Aline Latimer Kerns. On June 7, 1947 in St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany she married Edward Wintermantel who survives.
Mrs. Wintermantel attended St. Mary of the Angels Parochial School and graduated from Olean High School. She later graduated from Hockaday School in Dallas, TX. Prior to her marriage she was employed by the former New York Telephone Co. in Olean as the office manager.
She and her husband had resided during the winter months in Plant City, FL for the past 27 years where she was a member of St. Clements Church. She was also a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany and was an active bowler, golfer and tennis player. She was always busy with her friends and family and gave all her love to her husband, children and grandchildren. Her social nature made her a regular at the "lunch bunch" get togethers and also with Bridge Club.
Surviving besides her husband are her 4 children Dan (Leslie) Wintermantel of Pittsburgh, PA, Peter J. (Barbara) Wintermantel of Allegany, Mary E. "Prim" (Richard) Rennick of Dallas, TX and Mikel E. (Cheryl) Wintermantel of Allegany; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Edna Wintermantel of Allegany and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 2 sisters Barbara Peer in 2009 and an infant sister Betsy Kerns.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3218 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (August 3, 2010) beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
