Obituary of Charles E. Welch, Jr.

Charles E. "Dutch" Welch, Jr. "Loving Husband, dad and grandfather" Allegany-- Charles E. "Dutch" Welch, Jr. of 2936 Five Mile Road, Number 20, passed away Sunday (July 18, 2010) at the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born May 14, 1932 in Olean, NY he was the son of Charles E. and Loretta Howe Welch, Sr. In 1957, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean he married Mary Cacciotti who survives. Mr. Welch was a graduate of Olean High School and served in the United States Navy. He first was employed for Clark Bros Co. and later for the former Olean Lumber Company where he retired after 32 years of employment. He was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and the Hinsdale American Legion Norton Chambers Post #1434. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, watching all sports, especially softball, and playing baseball. Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters Kathleen (Doc) Moore of Allegany, Karen (David) Barton of Allegany; 1 son Jeffrey (Glenda) Welch of Salmanca; 6 grandchildren who he adored Gary Gardiner, Sindy (Shane) Bliss, Cody Barton, Nicole Barton, Talon Welch, Kiona Welch; 4 great-grandchildren Dalton Bliss, Hallie Bliss, Abbey Gardiner, Aiden Gardiner; 1 sister Jean Dodge of Olean; 1 brother Robert (Margie) Welch of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters Florence Brinckman, Marion Wallen, Margaret Lorenzini and 1 brother Harold Welch. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (July 21, 2010)at 10am at the funeral home. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be made to the Hinsdale American Legion, St. Mary of the Angels Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
