Louise G. Hickey Olean, NY--Louise G. Hickey of 612 S. Union St. died Friday (April 30, 2010) in the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo after a brief illness. Born April 3, 1926 in Weedville, PA she was the daughter of August L. and Ann Kilzen Golla. On August 6, 1949 in Cuba, NY she married Eugene P. Hickey, Sr. who predeceased her August 10, 1994. Mrs. Hickey was a graduate of Cuba High School and graduated from Ryder College in New Jersey. She was first employed as a secretary for the former Acme Electric Co. in Cuba prior to her marriage. Since 1951 she was involved in the family operation of Overhead Door Co. of Olean, first with her husband until his death, and presently with her son. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church where she taught religious education for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Lady Knights of Columbus in Olean where she was a longtime volunteer on the bingo committee. She spent many enjoyable summers at Cuba Lake and made frequent visits with her children and grandchildren to Myrtle Beach, SC where she enjoyed the beach. Surviving are 4 children Patricia (Leslie) Hamer of Allegany, Colleen (Daryl) Allen of Olean, Anne (Sparky) Granger of Olean and Eugene (Mary Jo) Hickey, Jr. of Cuba; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 brother Ralph Golla. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (May 4, 2010) beginning with a prayer service at 8:30am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church 202 S. Union St., Olean, NY 14760 or to the SPCA 2944 Olean-Hinsdale Rd. Olean, NY 14760.
