Olean-- W. Mark Oyer, of 412 E. State Street, passed away Thursday (April 29, 2010) at the Absolut of Allegany, after a long illness.
Born March 9, 1941 in Salamanca, he was the son of Robert and Beulah Bay Oyer. On July 16, 1962 in Roanoke Virginia, he married Suzanne Traylor, who survives.
Mr. Oyer attended Houghton College and SUNY Buffalo. He was employed for many years for the Salamanca City School District, retiring June 30, 1996.
Mr. Oyer was a member of the New York State Teachers Association and had attended the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany. He enjoyed reading, exercising, being outdoors, riding snowmobiles and ATV's.
Surviving besides his wife, are two children Seth (Breanne) Oyer of Perrysburg, OH, Amy Oyer of Olean; 2 granddaughters Emma Oyer of Perrysburg, OH and Taya Oyer of Olean; 1 sister Carol (Joe) Adamsczak of Orchard Park; one nephew and two nieces.
Friends will be received at the Five Mile Baptist Church on Saturday (May 8, 2010) from 10am until a memorial service begins at 11am. Rev. Michael Sanders will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Memorials if desired may be made to the Absolut of Allegany, 5th and Maple Streets Allegany, NY 14706 or to the Five Mile Baptist Church 3624 Five Mile Road, Allegany NY 14706.
