Obituary of Jane Lewis

Jane M. Lewis "Former Olean Resident" Buffalo, NY--Jane M. Lewis, 88, formerly of Olean and most recently a resident at St. Catherine Laboure Health Care Center in Buffalo passed away Saturday (April 10, 2010) after a long illness. Born November 16, 1921 in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of Earl L. and Mary Nellie Gould Shattuck. On December 12, 1941 in Olean, she married James D. Lewis, who predeceased her in 1994. Mrs. Lewis was a former member of the Salvation Army. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. Surviving are her four sons James (Barbara) Lewis of Dayton, OH, Robert (Elaine) Lewis of Niagara Falls, Gerald (Sheri) Lewis of Cherry Creek, NY, Daniel (Sharon) Lewis of Holland, NY; three daughters Sandra Pardy of Kenmore, NY, Elizabeth (Angelo) DeRossi of North Tonawanda, Nancy (Don) Jenkins of Conneaut Lake, PA; 18 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Mary Jane Lewis; a sister Helen May Gross; and 8 brothers William Shattuck, Donald Shattuck, Charles Shattuck, Oliver Shattuck, Lawrence Shattuck, Earl Shattuck, Jr., Leon Shattuck and Gordon Shattuck. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Wednesday (April 14, 2010) from 12-2pm at which time funeral services will be held. Rev. Lynn Zankl, pastor of Church of the Winds will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. View Cemetery, Veterans Field of Honor in Olean.
