Richard W. Heap: Beloved Husband, father, grandfather
Richard W. Heap, 79, of 610 East Deleware Ave, Olean passed away Thursday, March, 18, 2010 in Wellsville Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born on, Dec. 10, 1930, in Eldred, Pa he was a son of Clifford and Albertina Higby Heap. On July 31, 1954, in Olean, he married the former Leta B. Dailey who survives.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Heap worked for Olean Steel & Sales of Olean.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, working on automobiles, racing stock car, and most of all spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 5 sons Richard E. (Bridget) Heap of Stafford CT, Robert (Beverly) Heap of Caledonia, Frederick Heap of Salamanca, David (Helen) Heap of Port Allegany, Jeffrey Heap of Olean; 3 daughters Sarah J. Knight of Scio, Brenda (Mark) Dexter of Portville, Lynn (Tony) Taglyavento of Hinsdale; 25 grand children and 21 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter Michele Bova in 2007, a brother Frederick Heap and a sister Ramona Greene.
Friends called at the Casey, Halwig, and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 NYS Rte. 417W, Olean, on Monday, March 29, 2010 from 10 until 11:00 A.M. at which time funeral services were held. The Rev. Daniel Grimes, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Shinglehouse, Pa, officiated.
Burial was in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar, New York.
