Obituary of Thomas Geary

Allegany-- Thomas C. Geary of 3974 Rte 417 lot #96, passed away Friday (March 12, 2010).
Born February 12, 1931 in Allegany, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Helen Stambaugh Geary.
For over 50 years, Mr. Geary was the owner and operator of the former Geary Furniture and Appliances, in Allegany. He enjoyed garage sales, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who knew him as "The Donut Man".
He was a friend of Bill's.
Surviving are his 9 daughters Grace (David) Nolan of Allegany, Maureen (Mike) Ruether of Allegany, Megan (Bob) Blafkin of Las Vegas, NV, Shannon (Ed) Brown of St. Louis, MO, Helen Gossman of Augusta, GA, Colleen (Craig) Hartburg of Scottsville, VA, Catherine (Nathan) Farnum of Friendship, Melissa (Jeffery) Farrington of Fort Johnson, NY, Monique Geary of St. Louis, MO; 2 sons David (Susan) Geary of Manlius, NY Stephen (Cathy) Geary of Olean; 1 sister Margaret Bowen; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother-in-law John Bowen.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (March 16, 2010), beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Angels Church at 10am. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department, 2598 W. Five Mile Road, Allegany, NY 14706.
