Mabel R. Haight "Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-great Grandmother" Allegany, NY-Mabel R. Haight, 86, of 842 Four Mile Rd. lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday (February 5, 2010) in Buffalo General Hospital. Born November 12, 1923 in Gretna, FL she was the daughter of Vernon and Lessie Lee McKeawn Roberson. On March 31, 1942 in Ridgeland, SC she married Oscar G. Haight who predeceased her one year ago to the day February 5, 2009. Mabel loved crafts, sewing, square dancing, cooking, traveling and was a member of the Allegany 60 Plus Club. Her real love was for her husband of 66 years and her 6 children whom she loved dearly and devoted her entire life to. Surviving are 3 daughters Janice (David) Herron of Syracuse, Brenda H. Nolder of New Bern, NC and Carol Haight of Olean; 2 sons Donald (Lesley Rowe) Haight of Portville and Alan Haight, Sr. of Allegany; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 1 sister Marguerite Morris of Hilton Head, SC and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son Stanley Lee Haight and 1 sister Mildred Daigle of Tallahassee, FL Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday (February 11, 2010) from 4 until 6pm at which time a memorial service for both Mabel and her late husband Oscar will be held. Burial for both their cremated remains will be in the Mt. View Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany American Legion or to a charity of the donor's choice.
